Kommentar/Beschreibung

Course Description:
Teachers all over the world face the challenge of multicultural, multi-ethnical and multi-linguistic classrooms. Teachers need to be prepared to meet the needs of children from diverse backgrounds. The course provides an international perspective on teaching and learning on education systems around the world and includes a comprehensive overview of theories and methods of comparative education.

Learning Objectives:
Students are able to
• analyze the relationship between society, culture, politics and education;
• critically reflect barriers to education and theorize possible solutions;
• apply knowledge to set up a comparative study.

Teaching and learning activities:
The course will consist of thirteen sessions and will balance between lecturing, classroom discussion, school experiences (Visiting an International School, Primary or Secondary School) and practical tasks.

Assessment:
Oral Presentation & Written Report (or Thesis; Length: 5.000-7.000 signs)

English/German

Comments:
The course is part of the teacher education program for international students at the University of Vechta. Thus, the course offers students from the University of Vechta the unique possibility to collaborate with students of teaching from countries other than Germany.
