Kommentar/Beschreibung

Course Description:
The successful cooperation between families and the school, teachers and other school staff is the foundation for a good school climate and the key to the learning success. The course is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of effective collaboration practices and engages students to develop research-based solutions on how to implement family engagement practices in schools to make inclusive relationships and collaborations effective.

Learning Objectives:
Students are able to
• identify effective criteria of parental involvement;
• design events with parents;
• critically reflect on barriers of parental engagement and develop solutions;

Teaching and learning activities:
The course will consist of thirteen sessions and is designed as a blended learning course (face-to-face sessions and self-learning sessions at home).

Assessment:
Poster Presentation & Written Report (Length: 5.000 – 7.000 signs)

English/German

Comments:
The course is part of the teacher education program for international students at the University of Vechta. Thus, the course offers students from the University of Vechta the unique possibility to collaborate with students of teaching from countries other than Germany.
